Classroom Instruction

Classroom instruction consists of 10 sessions total. Each session lasts 3 hours.

Plan for Success

  • Your child, by law, must attend all 30 hours of classroom instruction to receive their blue card. Tardiness is not acceptable.
  • Please drop off and pick up your child promptly.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes early for class on the first day.
  • Please make sure your teen arrives on time. Students need to be in their seats and ready to go when class starts.
  • For security reasons, our instructors are required to wait until the last child is picked up before leaving the facility. Often instructors have other classes and drive sessions scheduled after class.
  • Students need to bring pencil/pen and notebook.
  • Minnesota Driving Manuals are available for $6.00. (Please bring exact amount in check or paper money.)
  • Students can mix and match class locations and times to meet the 10 class requirement.
  • Students are expected to complete all homework.

Parents Class

By attending the parent class you will reduce the required number of hours you must record on the Driving Log from 50 to 40 hours. 15 of the total hours must still be at night.

Our parent class is designed to help you get the most out of your driver’s education experience. It includes important information from the DPS and plenty of tips for you as a parent of a teen driver.

  • May 26th, 2020 (Remote Learning with Zoom.)
    • 6 to 7:30pm

Moped Safety Course

You must be 15 years old to receive your moped permit. The process is as follows:

  • Attend the Moped Safety Course offered by a licensed school. The course is three hours.
  • Take and pass the written test offered at a DMV testing center near your location. You will receive your Moped Operator’s Instruction Permit good for 30 days. This allows you to practice riding your moped within one mile of your home.
  • Take and pass the moped riding demonstration at a DMV test center near your location. You will then receive your Moped Operator’s Permit good for one year.

All persons licensed to drive a motor vehicle in Minnesota may drive a moped without testing.

Class Location and Times

Please note that a minimum of 10 students must be enrolled for a class to be held. We reserve the right to cancel any classroom session if the minimum number of students have not enrolled two weeks prior to class starting. Participants will be notified in the event a class is cancelled.
